Created in 2013 by a company called ASV Global, Thomas’ job is to collect important marine data to help us understand more about our seas.
Equipped with a range of sensors and cameras, he is designed to measure the salinity, sounds and temperature of the ocean, and has the ability to capture images and footage of dolphins and other marine wildlife.
Thanks to our dolphin adopters, we have been able to work in partnership with The National Oceanography Centre and ASV Global on this exciting and innovative project using cutting-edge technology to discover more about what happens beneath the surface of our oceans.
Dr Lyndsey Dodds, Head of Marine Policy at WWF-UK, commented “I’d like to say a really big thank you to those of you that adopt dolphins. It’s because of your support that we can do really exciting projects like this, and make sure that we really protect our UK seas.”
